The Ministry of Interior in Cambodia has launched the issuance of National ID Cards, bringing essential public services closer to communities. In late April, nearly 20,000 identity cards were distributed nationwide, marking a significant milestone in the ministry's efforts to streamline administrative processes.

With a focus on accessibility, some provinces have introduced a mobile service, ensuring that citizens in remote areas have equal access to essential documentation. In Kampot province, for instance, the provincial police have deployed a specially equipped bus to travel to high schools, enabling students and members of the public to apply for ID cards conveniently.

Minister of Interior Sar Sokha has emphasized the importance of efficient service provision, prompting the General Department of Identification to explore innovative approaches such as One Window Service Offices at the sub-national level. This move underscores the government's commitment to improving public service delivery and enhancing citizen engagement.

The introduction of mobile ID card issuance services not only simplifies the application process but also minimizes disruptions to daily routines, particularly for students. By leveraging technology and strategic outreach, Cambodia is paving the way for a more inclusive and responsive governance framework, ensuring that every citizen has access to essential documentation.
