In an effort to bolster Cambodia's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability, the Ministry of Environment has announced plans for a Seedling Promotion and Distribution Exhibition slated for July. Under the theme "Green Sprouts," this initiative aims to encourage widespread tree planting across the nation.

Scheduled to commence on July 10, 2024, the exhibition will offer a diverse array of seedlings free of charge, intended for cultivation in various settings such as homes, schools, pagodas, and public and private spaces. This initiative aligns with the government's ambitious Environmental Strategy 2023-2028, which emphasizes cleanliness, green initiatives, and sustainable practices to safeguard Cambodia's biodiversity and natural resources.

Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, underscored the significance of this event in advancing Cambodia's goal of achieving carbon neutrality and increasing forest cover to 60 percent by 2050. With over 1 million seedlings already prepared for distribution and additional resources allocated through the Cambodian Green Campaign, the ministry is poised to make substantial strides in reforestation efforts.

Dr. Sophalleth emphasized the collective responsibility shared by leaders, civil servants, and local communities in nurturing and preserving Cambodia's natural heritage. Strengthening partnerships with governmental agencies, development partners, and the private sector will be pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of environmental initiatives and fostering sustainable resource management practices nationwide.
