Cambodia's plan to construct the Funan Techo canal, a $1.7 billion project connecting the Gulf of Thailand with inland provinces and Phnom Penh, has ignited a flurry of discussions among regional stakeholders. While the project promises economic benefits and job creation, concerns about its environmental impact and geopolitical implications have emerged, particularly from neighboring Vietnam.

The Funan Techo canal, envisioned as a vital transportation artery, aims to enhance connectivity and reduce dependency on Vietnamese ports.
