Cambodia’s renowned Angkor Archaeological Park has generated $30.33 million in revenue from ticket sales during the first eight months of 2024, marking a 31.3% increase compared to the same period last year, according to an official report released by Xinhua. The site welcomed 651,857 international tourists, a 30.7% rise from the 498,513 visitors recorded over the same period in 2023.

The top five source markets for Angkor were the United States, Britain, France, South Korea, and China. The site’s revenue in August alone reached $3.15 million from 67,482 foreign holidaymakers, showing a year-on-year growth of 14% in visitors and 13.7% in earnings. The recent opening of the Chinese-invested Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and the Cambodia-China people-to-people exchange year 2024 have significantly contributed to this increase in tourism.

Angkor Archaeological Park, located in Siem Reap province and spanning 401 square kilometers, is home to 91 ancient temples built between the 9th and 13th centuries. Inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992, the park remains Cambodia's most popular tourist attraction.
