Blindness remains a critical public health concern in rural Cambodia, with many cases being preventable or treatable. Since 2007, Battambang Ophthalmic Care (BOC) has made significant strides in addressing this issue through eye examinations, outreach programs, surgeries, and related services across northwest Cambodia.

Australian ophthalmologist Dr. Geoff Cohn OAM has been instrumental in supporting BOC for over a decade, providing essential equipment and training to improve the clinic's capabilities.

Recently, Pablo Kang, the Australian Charge d’Affaires, visited BOC’s facilities along with Dr. Cohn, Sok Lou, Governor of Battambang, and senior officials. The delegation observed the profound impact of their collaborative efforts. The Australian Embassy expressed satisfaction with the substantial progress achieved through their support, highlighting significant improvements in patient care made possible by Australian expertise and financial assistance.
