British Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia Facilitates Key Discussions on UK Investment

UKEF and Cambodian Officials Discuss Infrastructure and Economic Development
The British Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (BritCham Cambodia) has played a pivotal role in fostering discussions between UK Export Finance (UKEF) and Cambodian officials, aimed at boosting Cambodia’s infrastructure and public services. From August 5-7, a UKEF delegation, led by Vomic Nur Shah, Head of Business Origination & Client Coverage, held meetings with senior Cambodian leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Aun Pornmoniroth, to explore collaboration opportunities.

UKEF, a UK government department, offers government-backed financing to support international trade, particularly in capital-intensive infrastructure and energy projects. With a market capacity of £1 billion to £2 billion for Cambodia, UKEF’s financial instruments, including a 100% loan guarantee, are expected to attract significant British investment.

The mission also involved discussions on developing a green special economic zone in Cambodia, aligning with global green finance initiatives. BritCham Cambodia hosted a networking session at TRIBE Hotel Phnom Penh, facilitating in-depth conversations on potential projects and underscoring the Chamber's crucial role in linking UKEF with local investors.
