On Thursday, the British Embassy in Cambodia hosted a pre-departure reception for nine Cambodian Chevening Scholars who will pursue their Master’s degrees in the UK for the 2024-2025 academic year. The event was attended by British Ambassador Dominic Williams, his wife Nilma Dole Williams, and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, along with other embassy partners.

Among the scholars is a recipient of the UK-SAGE Women in STEM scholarship, a program funded by the UK government aimed at empowering women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The Chevening Scholarships offer full financial support to scholars, allowing them to study at over 150 UK universities while gaining access to exclusive academic and cultural experiences.

Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals who demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to positive change in their home countries. Since its inception in 1983, the program has helped over 57,000 professionals advance their careers. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the UK government plans to offer approximately 1,500 Chevening awards globally.
