Cambodia and China Media Group Strengthen Media Cooperation

Discussions focus on expanding Chinese-language news and broadcasting
Cambodia’s Ministry of Information and China Media Group (CMG) are exploring ways to deepen their media partnership. During a meeting on March 7, Information Minister Neth Pheaktra proposed expanding Chinese-language news coverage on Cambodia’s national news agency, Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP), and increasing Chinese broadcasting on National Television of Cambodia (TVK) and Radio National of Kampuchea (RNK).

Xu Xiaoxia, Deputy Director of CMG’s Khmer Language Department, welcomed the proposals and reaffirmed CMG’s commitment to strengthening cooperation. The collaboration has already helped build technical expertise among Cambodian media professionals through China Global Television Network (CGTN) training programs.

CMG, China’s largest state-run media group, broadcasts in 68 languages worldwide. Expanding Chinese-language media in Cambodia is expected to enhance mutual understanding between the two nations, particularly in areas such as culture, traditions, and tourism.
