Cambodia has officially invited Australia to participate in the upcoming Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World, set to take place in November this year. The invitation was extended by Acting Head of State Hun Sen during a meeting with the newly appointed Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, Derek Yip.

During the meeting, Hun Sen praised Australia's longstanding support for Cambodia's mine clearance initiatives and emphasized the importance of continued Australian assistance. He noted that Australia's support is vital in helping Cambodia reach its goal of becoming a mine-free country and in sharing its successful demining strategies with other nations.

Cambodia, a signatory to the Ottawa Treaty since 2000, has earned a reputation as a global leader in landmine eradication. The country was chosen by 164 state parties to chair and host the 5th Review Conference of the Convention, known as the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit.
