Cambodia Prepares to Host 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026

Event seen as a ‘Golden Opportunity’ for Showcasing Cambodia’s Cultural and Economic Strengths
Cambodia is gearing up to host the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026, with Prime Minister Hun Manet and Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea highlighting the event as a chance to boost the Kingdom’s international profile. Speaking to Khmer Times, Chenda Sophea described the summit as a "golden opportunity" for Cambodia to present its culture, tourism, and investment potential to the world.

The summit, which will gather heads of state and government from Francophone nations, is expected to be held in Siem Reap. The event will also serve as a platform for Cambodia to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties with other Francophonie members, while showcasing its political stability and development.

During his visit to France in 2023, Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed Cambodia's candidacy to host the summit. The French government, along with the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), has expressed strong support for Cambodia’s bid.
