Gold mining company Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia) Ltd, a subsidiary of Australia’s Emerald Resources NL, has employed nearly seven hundred Cambodians at its Mondulkiri mining site, with women working in construction and operating heavy machinery. The company launched its Okvau Gold Project in Keo Seima district in 2021, refining over thirteen thousand seven hundred kilograms of gold to date.

Company director Bernie Cleary highlighted that ninety percent of the workforce is Cambodian, with local employees managing all operations, including truck driving and excavation. The company also offers internship programs, with thirty-seven students securing full-time roles, including seven women in technical fields such as geology and mining engineering.

With a one hundred twenty million United States dollar investment, the company produces gold bars with ninety percent purity, generating an average of one hundred eighty-five million United States dollars annually. Renaissance Minerals is also exploring new sites, aiming to produce over three tonnes of gold per year for at least eight years.
