Cambodia's Rising Awareness and Challenges in Skincare Product Usage

Consumer Report Highlights Growing Interest and Concerns in Cosmetic Industry
A recent Cambodia Consumer Report in 2023 has highlighted an increasing awareness among Cambodians about skincare products, noting that nearly half of those surveyed regularly purchase facial washes, sunscreens, and antiperspirants. This growing trend reflects a broader interest in beauty and wellness products that enhance well-being. However, experts raise concerns about the risks associated with using uncertified and low-quality products, which could harm consumers' skin and impact their budgets negatively.

The popularity of skincare routines is evident, with individuals investing significantly in products that promise good results, sometimes spending up to $60 monthly. This expenditure is seen as worthwhile by many, given the visible improvements in skin quality. However, the challenge remains in ensuring access to certified and effective products, especially with the influx of uncertified items in the market.

Local influencers and experts emphasize the importance of using safe and suitable products. They suggest that beyond relying on cosmetics, maintaining a healthy environment and lifestyle plays a crucial role in skincare. The government and relevant organizations are urged to intensify their efforts in regulating and educating about safe cosmetic practices to protect consumers from potential harms.
