Cambodia’s tourism sector is experiencing a strong recovery, with Sihanouk International Airport reporting an 80 percent increase in passenger traffic for January 2025, welcoming over 4,000 travelers. This growth aligns with the country’s broader tourism resurgence, as international arrivals rose by 13.3 percent to 611,894 visitors.

Preah Sihanouk province, a major coastal tourism hub, continues to attract visitors despite evolving travel trends. While air and land travel to the region are increasing, demand for sea travel has declined. However, international arrivals at Sihanouk International Airport remain well below pre-pandemic levels, with January 2025 figures down 84.35 percent compared to January 2019.

Other key Cambodian airports also saw notable growth. Phnom Penh International Airport recorded a year-on-year increase of 18.2 percent, welcoming 157,120 international travelers, while Siem Reap Angkor International Airport saw a 16.1 percent rise with 83,989 arrivals. With infrastructure improvements and government efforts to enhance connectivity, Cambodia’s tourism industry is poised for continued expansion.
