Bilateral trade between Cambodia and South Korea reached $762 million by the end of 2024, marking an 11.49 percent increase compared to the previous year. Cambodian exports accounted for $288 million, reflecting a rise of 13.77 percent, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA), which recently came into effect, has played a pivotal role in boosting trade ties between the two nations. During the first CKFTA Joint Committee meeting held in South Korea, both sides approved procedural measures and reviewed recommendations from subcommittees focusing on trade in goods, rules of origin, customs procedures, and economic cooperation.

The committee emphasized the importance of regular sessions and raising awareness about the CKFTA to ensure both countries fully benefit from the agreement. Discussions on expanding trade cooperation into services and investment are also set to continue.

Looking ahead, Cambodia is preparing to host the second CKFTA Joint Committee meeting in 2025. Both countries aim to deepen collaboration in sectors such as digital technology, electronics, automotive production, agricultural product processing, and food production, fostering mutual economic growth.
