The Ministry of Environment, in partnership with the Mekong Future Initiative, will host the Cambodia Climate Change Summit 2024 (CCCS24) in Preah Sihanouk Province on October twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth.

The event will focus on subjects such as renewable energy, climate finance, carbon markets, and technological innovations in environmentalism.

This summit is the fourth of its kind since its inception in 2021.

According to Ministry spokesperson Khvay Atitya, Cambodia seeks to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, using adaptation and mitigation strategies outlined in a five-year environmental strategy.

The nation plans to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 41.7 percent, equating to 64.6 million tonnes of carbon equivalent annually by 2030, through initiatives in sectors like forestry, energy, and waste management.

Over twenty panel discussions will be held, engaging participants to prepare for the twenty-ninth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will occur in Baku, Azerbaijan.

A sustainable solutions expo, open to the public, will also showcase eco-friendly products.

Attendees include Environment Minister Eang Sophallet, diplomats, climate experts, and over 300 sub-national administrations.
