Cambodian Prime Minister Urges Vigilance Against Land Concession Brokers at Mondulkiri Dam Inauguration

Prime Minister Hun Manet calls for stricter oversight to protect citizens from misleading land registration practices
During the inauguration of the O'Te Thipadei Dam and two other dams in Mondulkiri province on October 24, 2024, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the need for immediate action against brokers who deceive citizens into registering for land concessions. Speaking at the event, PM Manet urged provincial authorities to remain vigilant and ensure that all land concession registrations are handled exclusively through official state mechanisms. He highlighted the growing concerns over the exploitation of citizens in land matters and stressed the importance of safeguarding their rights through proper regulatory processes.

Prime Minister Manet's remarks come amid increasing reports of individuals being misled by unauthorized brokers, resulting in unfair land deals and loss of property rights. By advocating for stricter oversight, the Prime Minister aims to reinforce the integrity of land registration systems and prevent fraudulent activities that undermine public trust and social stability. His directive underscores the government's commitment to protecting vulnerable populations and maintaining orderly land management practices across Cambodia.

The Prime Minister's call to action aligns with broader government efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in land transactions. As Cambodia continues to develop its infrastructure and expand agricultural and industrial projects, ensuring that land concessions are granted fairly and legally is crucial for sustainable growth and community well-being. Prime Minister Hun Manet's leadership in addressing these issues highlights the administration's dedication to fostering a secure and equitable environment for all citizens.
