Hun Manet Urges Calm Over Border Dispute with Thailand

Cambodian PM calls for experts to resolve tensions over Ta Moan Thom temple
Prime Minister Hun Manet has called on Cambodian and Thai politicians to avoid extremism in the ongoing border dispute over Ta Moan Thom temple, urging both nations to let experts handle the issue. Speaking at a graduation ceremony, he warned against escalating tensions, reminding leaders that war would bring no benefit to either country.

Manet emphasized that border disputes should be resolved professionally and in accordance with international law. He also urged border troops to maintain normal interactions and avoid conflicts. However, he reaffirmed Cambodia’s right to defend itself if provoked.

The dispute reignited after Cambodians, including soldiers, sang the national anthem at the temple, drawing objections from Thai officials. Manet urged both nations to trust their respective border experts, keeping politics out of the resolution process.
