Kampot Welcomes Record 198,000 Tourists for New Year’s Eve 2024

The scenic province shines as a rising star in Cambodia's tourism landscape
Kampot province celebrated New Year’s Eve 2024 with an impressive influx of nearly 198,000 visitors, marking a significant milestone for its tourism sector. The total included over 197,000 domestic tourists and more than 600 international travelers, highlighting the growing appeal of the province as a premier destination for both local and foreign visitors.

The celebrations were well-organized and peaceful, with no major incidents reported. Soy Sinol, Director of the Kampot Provincial Department of Tourism, attributed this success to improved infrastructure, better tourist services, and effective coordination among local authorities. Kampot City, with its colonial charm, vibrant riverside, and iconic landmarks such as the seahorse statue and the city clock, served as the focal point for the festivities.

Key attractions like Bokor Mountain National Park, pristine beach areas, and historic colonial architecture continue to draw tourists seeking both relaxation and adventure. The surge in tourism has provided a significant economic boost, benefiting local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and transportation services.

Authorities emphasized their commitment to sustainable tourism, ensuring that growth does not come at the expense of environmental conservation or cultural heritage. With targeted promotion campaigns and ongoing investment in tourism infrastructure, Kampot is well-positioned to become a flagship destination in Cambodia’s tourism sector.
