Prime Minister Hun Manet has unveiled plans to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed railway that would connect Siem Reap city to Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport. The railway, which is expected to span approximately 13 kilometers, aims to provide better transportation options for both residents and visitors traveling to the popular tourist destination.

At a recent graduation ceremony for the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the Prime Minister outlined the project, explaining that the proposed railway will cover a distance of just 13 kilometers from the existing internal road to the intersection of Banteay Srei, making it an accessible route to the airport. "This new railway will be more efficient than the Kyungyoun Road, which was recently constructed," he said.

In addition to this railway initiative, the Prime Minister also highlighted plans to expand National Road No. 6 and develop the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet expressway, which will further improve connectivity within the country. These transportation projects are part of a larger effort by the government to enhance Cambodia’s infrastructure, promote tourism, and support economic growth.
