The United Kingdom has announced it will continue Cambodia's inclusion in the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) for an additional three years after Cambodia graduates from least developed country (LDC) status in 2030. The extension, confirmed by Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will last until 2032, ensuring a smoother economic transition.

The decision was highlighted during the Joint Trade and Investment Forum (JTIF) in November 2024, where both nations emphasized the importance of continued economic cooperation. Economic expert Hong Vannak noted that this extension offers Cambodia an opportunity to diversify exports beyond textiles, focusing on processed agricultural products to meet UK demand.

In 2024, trade between Cambodia and the UK reached over 1 billion dollars, marking a 16 percent increase from the previous year, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise.
