The USAID Green Future Activity successfully concluded with a closing ceremony at Hotel Cambodiana in Phnom Penh on July 5. This five-year project empowered civil society organizations and citizens, focusing on youth, women, and indigenous groups, to address environmental issues and promote sustainable natural resource management and biodiversity protection.

Kerry Pelzman, USAID’s Mission Director, highlighted the importance of reversing deforestation trends to protect Cambodia's biodiversity. Despite the project's conclusion, she emphasized the ongoing need for environmental conservation efforts. Surveys indicated that three out of four Cambodian youth prioritize biodiversity and forest protection.

Ngauv Borina, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment, encouraged continued involvement in environmental protection activities. Youth participant Sang Muylin noted the project's impact in raising awareness about the dangers of eating wild animals and the broader importance of environmental conservation.

The project, funded by USAID and implemented by ECODIT and Family Health International (FHI) 360, aimed to foster a love of nature and promote behavioral changes that protect the environment. Resources and materials created during the project will be stored in the Ministry of Environment's e-library for future use.
