Cambodia Experiences Significant Growth in International Tourism

From January to September 2024, Cambodia saw an increase of 22.2 percent in international tourists compared to the same period in 2023, with about four point eight million visitors. This growth resulted in almost seven hundred thousand Angkor Archaeological Park tickets sold, generating over thirty-two million dollars in revenue. The Ministry of Tourism attributes this increase to political stability and improved hospitality, with expectations of reaching six million international tourists by year-end.
Cambodia welcomed approximately four point eight million international tourists from January to September 2024, marking a 22.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

This growth is close to the record set in 2019, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Ticket sales for Angkor Archaeological Park rose by 29.7 percent, with 699,850 tickets sold, generating thirty-two point five two million dollars in revenue.

Additionally, one point three six million Cambodians traveled abroad.

The ministry attributes the rise in tourism to political stability, domestic security, and improved hospitality services.

In 2024, Cambodia aims to attract approximately six million international tourists, potentially matching 2019's peak of six point six one million by 2025.

Increased international flights also contribute to this trend.

While tourism in Siem Reap has grown, it remains below 2019 levels, with most tourists now coming from Europe and the United States, contrasting with 2020 when Asian tourists, particularly from China, predominated.
