Cambodia’s Trade Sees 16% Growth in First Nine Months of 2024

Exports surge as political stability attracts foreign investment
Cambodia’s international trade reached $40.94 billion in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 16.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Exports grew by 17% to $19.83 billion, while imports rose by 15.9% to $21.1 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of over $1 billion, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise.

Experts attribute this growth to the country’s political stability, reasonable labour costs, and favourable investment and tax policies, positioning Cambodia as an attractive destination for businesses relocating due to global trade conflicts.

The rise in imported raw materials and components for manufacturing is also seen as a positive indicator of Cambodia’s growing export potential to major markets like the US and Europe.
