Cambodian Workers in Thailand Urged to Stay Vigilant Amid Potential Floods

Ministry of Labour monitors Chao Phraya River levels to ensure worker safety
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has issued a warning to Cambodian workers in Thailand to remain cautious as the Chao Phraya River is expected to rise between October 13 and 23. While no reports of affected workers have been received as of October 9, the ministry is closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with the Cambodian Embassy and recruitment agencies to ensure workers' safety.

Dythe Hoya from the Center for Alliance of Labor and Human Rights has advised workers to stay informed through Thai government media and exercise caution in potentially flood-prone areas. Most Cambodian workers in Bangkok are construction laborers, and concerns remain over their working conditions and upcoming legal document renewals, which may pose financial challenges for many.

Efforts are being made to inform workers in affected areas, but no responses have been received from workers as of publication.
