The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) approved 40 new investment projects and three production-expansion plans worth a combined $940 million in November. This represents a significant jump from October’s figures and is expected to create around 39,000 new jobs. According to a December 6 CDC statement, the ventures span garments, textiles, furniture, toys, shoes, chemicals, aluminium processing, beverages, tourism, infrastructure, and other critical sectors. Vietnam led foreign financiers with over half of the total investment, followed by China and Cambodia, and projects were spread across both special economic zones and other industrial areas.

Economist Duch Darin notes that Cambodia’s strategic location, stable political environment, and expanding free trade agreements are attracting more foreign direct investment. With the global economy on a slow path to recovery and the potential for new international trade policies on the horizon, Darin predicts continued growth. These investments, he says, underscore the Kingdom’s resilience and promise to solidify its status as a competitive manufacturing and export hub in the region.
