Cambodia’s traditional krama textile has been officially added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, an honour celebrated during the 19th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee in Asunción, Paraguay. Prime Minister Hun Manet addressed the global community via video, pledging to safeguard and nurture the artisans and communities that sustain this deeply symbolic art form. The krama, woven into countless aspects of Cambodian life—from protecting farmers in the field to comforting newborns—serves as a testament to the resilience, adaptability, and unity of the nation’s cultural legacy.
