Cambodia's Tourism Soars: Angkor Temples Witness Record Ticket Sales

Revenue Surges as Foreign Tourists Flock to Explore Cambodia's Cultural Treasures
In the first four months of 2024, Cambodia's tourism industry witnessed a remarkable surge, with nearly $20 million generated from ticket sales to iconic destinations like Angkor, Koh Ker, and Chong Khlias.

During this period, 421,379 foreign tourists purchased tickets to Angkor and Koh Ker temples, marking a substantial increase of 40.93% compared to the same period last year. This surge in visitor numbers translated to a revenue increase of 41.95%, amounting to $19,917,533.

What's even more remarkable is the positive impact of tourism revenue on Cambodia's healthcare sector. In a heartwarming initiative, the government allocated a total of $842,758 from ticket sales to Kantha Bopha Hospital Cambodia. This funding aims to support the hospital's crucial mission of providing life-saving medical care to Cambodian children.

These figures underscore the growing popularity of Cambodia's cultural treasures among international travelers. In 2023, over 790,000 foreign tourists visited Angkor, generating a staggering $37,198,988 in revenue—a testament to the enduring allure and significance of Cambodia's rich cultural heritage.
