Phnom Penh Designers Week is back with its Fall/Winter 2024 edition, themed “Fashion in a Changing World,” set for December 7 at Connexion on Koh Pich. Despite Cambodia’s small fashion industry, this bi-annual event continues to provide an essential platform for local designers to showcase their creativity. Six new collections from prominent local designers will be featured, offering a glimpse into the future of fashion.

The event, co-founded by Filipino designer Don Protasio, has been held twice a year since 2013. Protasio, who serves as the event’s creative director, believes that Phnom Penh Designers Week plays a vital role in supporting designers, models, and creatives in the city. The theme reflects the changing cultural landscape and the societal and political shifts seen in the post-pandemic world. The diverse collections include a range of styles, from the glamorous designs of SCT to the boho chic of A.N.D. and minimalist styles by Protasio himself.

The event not only promotes the work of established designers but also plays a key role in supporting the growth of the fashion community in Phnom Penh. Protasio highlighted the importance of the event for nurturing local talent, especially in a small market where designers have to rely on community support.
