The Carbon Credit Agency (VERRA) has announced the lifting of its suspension on carbon credit sales for the REDD+ South Cardamom project in Cambodia's Cardamom Mountains National Park. Following a comprehensive audit, VERRA confirmed that the project has implemented necessary steps to manage natural resources and support community livelihoods. This decision comes after a suspension that began in early 2023.

Minister of Environment Dr. Eang Sophalleth noted that this decision reflects the Ministry's success in implementing effective environmental strategies and improving the livelihoods of communities in protected areas. Key achievements include strict law enforcement for forest protection, enhanced living standards for local communities, and strong stakeholder cooperation.
