In an ambitious move towards environmental sustainability, Cambodia is gearing up to launch the "Clean Cambodia! Khmer Can Do!" campaign today, Wednesday May 15, 2024. Building on the success of the "Today, I Do Not Use Plastic Bag" initiative, this campaign aims to mobilize communities across the nation for regular clean-up activities.

Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, highlighted the campaign's significance in curbing plastic pollution and fostering a culture of cleanliness. With over 8 million participants engaged in the previous plastic bag reduction campaign, Cambodia has already made strides in waste management.

The "Clean Cambodia! Khmer Can Do!" campaign encourages individuals from all walks of life—students, monks, villagers—to dedicate at least 15 minutes every Saturday to clean up their surroundings. By instilling habits of waste collection and proper disposal, the initiative seeks to transform societal norms towards a cleaner, greener Cambodia.

Aligned with Cambodia's broader environmental goals outlined in the "Circular Strategy 2023-2028," this campaign reflects a commitment to sustainability and climate resilience. Through grassroots efforts and community participation, Cambodia aims to pave the way for a pollution-free future and the gradual elimination of plastic waste.
