New Boat Link to Connect Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, Boosting Regional Tourism

Tourism leaders see major potential in enhancing coastal travel and local economies
Cambodian tourism stakeholders have embraced plans for a new boat route linking Thailand’s Trat province, Cambodia’s coastal cities of Kep and Kampot, and Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island. Industry experts believe the project will strengthen regional tourism and draw more visitors to Cambodia’s seaside destinations.

Sinan Thourn, chairman of PATA Cambodia, highlighted ongoing collaboration with Thailand and Vietnam through the Cambodia-Vietnam-Thailand Economic Corridor (CVTEC) to promote waterway travel. PATA’s recent Cambodia Travel Match event in Kampot introduced a new route connecting Thai and Indian tour operators to Kampot International Tourism Port via Koh Kong.

Tourism leaders, including Steve Lidgey of Travel Asia a la Carte and Sivlin Chhay of the Cambodia Travel Association, emphasize the importance of simplified border crossings and sustainable planning to maximize the project’s benefits. The new route is expected to boost tourism, create jobs, and stimulate local economies in Cambodia’s coastal regions.
