Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra has announced plans to launch an “Anti-Fake News Campaign” to curb the spread of false information and enhance public awareness in Cambodia. Speaking at the closing ceremony of a seminar on the Journalism Professional Charter and Code of Ethics on January 11, the Minister emphasized the campaign’s focus on educating the public about identifying trustworthy news sources.

Pheaktra called on journalists to support the campaign, highlighting its role in fostering responsible media practices and safeguarding journalist safety. The initiative has gained support from ASEAN countries and beyond, reflecting growing regional concern over misinformation.

The Minister also reaffirmed the importance of the Journalism Charter in guiding ethical standards and strengthening press freedom. He stressed the need for collaboration to improve media credibility and ensure accurate information reaches the public.
