Cambodia's Rubber Industry Shows Resilience with Strong First Quarter Exports

Steady Growth and Positive Outlook
Cambodia's rubber sector is on a promising trajectory, with the first quarter of 2024 witnessing a notable increase in rubber exports. According to the General Directorate of Rubber under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the country's rubber exports reached $100.5 million, marking an 8% rise from the same period last year.

The report indicates that Cambodia exported 69,322 tonnes of dry rubber, reflecting a 5.1% increase compared to the first quarter of 2023. Furthermore, the price of dry rubber also saw a rise, averaging $1,450 per tonne, indicating favorable market conditions.

Key markets for Cambodian rubber include Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China, showcasing the sector's strong international presence and competitiveness.

Additionally, Cambodia has made significant strides in rubber cultivation, with a total area of 407,172 hectares dedicated to rubber tree cultivation. Of these, approximately 79% are mature enough for tapping, highlighting the country's substantial potential for further growth and development in the rubber industry.
