Cambodia has officially inaugurated its first dedicated Fire Rescue Command Centre, located within the National Police headquarters compound. The centre is designed to enhance fire prevention services by providing early detection of fires and reducing associated risks. General Neth Vantha, director of the National Police's Department of Fire Prevention, Extinguishing and Rescue, emphasized that the facility will help manage fires more effectively and provide advanced warnings.

General Sar Thet, the National Police chief, explained that the new centre will offer services to selected factories, enterprises, businesses, and private residences. Connected to an information network for fire prevention, the centre operates in partnership with Top Fire Safety (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., which supplies the necessary technical equipment. The system can send alerts directly to property owners' smartphones, notify the fire brigade, and dispatch the nearest fire truck for timely and accurate responses.

The command centre represents a significant investment, totaling 3.3 million dollars, including funds for the building, technical equipment, and the development of new technology and data management systems. In the first six months of 2024, Cambodia recorded 738 fire incidents, resulting in nine deaths and 25 injuries. Officials hope that the new centre will help reduce the number of fire incidents by improving early detection and response capabilities.
