Cambodia’s Exports to Canada Surpass $1 Billion in 2024

Strong growth highlights Canada’s role as a key trading partner
Cambodia’s exports to Canada reached over $1 billion in the first eleven months of 2024, marking a thirty percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise. Total trade between the two countries amounted to $1.063 billion, reflecting a twenty-seven percent year-on-year rise.

Exports to Canada were valued at $1.011 billion, driven largely by apparel, travel bags, footwear, and bicycles. Imports from Canada, however, saw a decline of fifteen percent, totaling $52.07 million. Cambodian exports accounted for over ninety-five percent of the total trade volume between the two nations.

Economists noted Canada’s importance as a member of the Group of Seven nations and emphasized the need for Cambodia to diversify its export products to sustain growth. Improved diplomatic ties, including Canada’s plans to open an embassy in Cambodia, are expected to further strengthen trade relations.

The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce highlighted ongoing efforts to promote Cambodian goods in Canada through its representative office in Toronto, forecasting continued growth in trade as global economic conditions improve.
