The Ministry of Environment has ordered Cambodian Noble Taste Food Co Ltd to halt wastewater discharge into Sangke Creek in Prey Nop district, Preah Sihanouk province, and clean up sediment from the waterway. This follows a December 30 inspection revealing irregular wastewater management, murky water, and unpleasant odours in the creek.

The ministry instructed the company to install proper treatment ponds, a single designated discharge point, and automatic monitoring systems. Additionally, the company must cease waste burning and restore the creek to a clean state to safeguard local biodiversity and public health.

The company acknowledged its shortcomings and pledged compliance. The ministry emphasized that violations of environmental laws could result in fines and imprisonment. Enhanced oversight measures, including remote monitoring systems, are being implemented nationwide to prevent similar incidents in the future.
