Cambodia Unveils Plans for Green Tourism Corridor in Phnom Kulen National Park

Ministry of Environment Leads Effort to Foster Sustainable Tourism
In a bid to promote sustainable tourism and conservation, the Ministry of Environment has revealed plans to establish a green tourism corridor within the Preah Jayavarman-Norodom Phnom Kulen National Park in Siem Reap province.

Environment Minister Eang Sophalleth announced the initiative during a meeting focused on developing green tourism destinations, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural resources while supporting local communities.

The project aims to create sustainable livelihoods for park residents and achieve carbon neutrality by 2025. Proposed features include eco-friendly camping sites, traditional Khmer-style accommodations, cycling paths, and other eco-tourism products.

The ministry is conducting a feasibility study to guide the strategic planning for the corridor, which will enhance the park's offerings while conserving its cultural and natural heritage.

Preah Jayavarman-Norodom Phnom Kulen National Park, home to picturesque waterfalls and ancient temples, is a cherished site attracting thousands of visitors annually. This initiative underscores Cambodia's commitment to environmental sustainability and sets a precedent for conservation efforts nationwide.
