Since its inception in 2012, the Chaktomuk Short Film Festival (CSFF) has been a beacon for short filmmakers worldwide. With the latest edition just around the corner, the festival has opened its doors for submissions, welcoming talented filmmakers from diverse backgrounds.

Emphasizing local talent, CSFF actively encourages Cambodian filmmakers to participate and showcase their creativity. Collaborating with the Sunflower Film Alliance and independent film experts in Cambodia, the 13th edition promises exciting prizes and opportunities for both local and international participants.

Scheduled for October, the main events of the festival will feature a range of activities, including film insights, influencer campaigns, and audience outreach efforts. Sum Sithen, director of the 13th CSFF, expressed his excitement about showcasing new short films and the support of their partners, including the Cambodian Children’s Fund.

Chy Sila, CSFF’s advisory board chairperson, emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent in the Cambodian film industry. He sees CSFF as a vital platform for discovering and promoting emerging filmmakers, recognizing that short films often serve as the foundation for future cinematic endeavors.

CSFF collective president Than Rathana highlighted the opportunities the festival provides for filmmakers to showcase their work and network with industry professionals. With prestigious awards up for grabs, including Best Cambodian Short Film and Best International Short Film, CSFF 2024 promises to be a celebration of creativity and cinematic excellence.
