MIT Retains Top Spot in QS World University Rankings 2025, Chulalongkorn University Ranked 229th

Massachusetts Institute of Technology continues its dominance as Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University ranks 229th globally.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has retained its position at the top of the QS World University Rankings 2025 for the 13th consecutive year.

The annual rankings, compiled by higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds, feature over 1,500 universities from 105 higher education systems worldwide.

The rankings show MIT leading the pack, followed by Imperial College London, which moved up four places to secure second.

The University of Oxford and Harvard University remain in third and fourth positions, while the University of Cambridge completes the top five.

The top 10 universities globally include:

1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States
2. Imperial College London, United Kingdom
3. University of Oxford, United Kingdom
4. Harvard University, United States
5. University of Cambridge, United Kingdom
6. Stanford University, United States
7. ETH Zurich, Switzerland
8. National University of Singapore, Singapore
9. University College London, United Kingdom
10. California Institute of Technology (Caltech), United States

Chulalongkorn University, Thailand’s top university, ranked 229th globally.

Other Thai institutions featured in the rankings include Mahidol University at 368th, Chiang Mai University at 567th, and Thammasat University at 596th.

This year’s QS World University Rankings expanded to include more than 1,500 universities, with the United States leading with 197 institutions, followed by the United Kingdom with 90 and mainland China with 71 universities.
