Thailand's cabinet has given the green light for the second phase of the high-speed rail initiative that will link the nation to China through Laos, with construction anticipated to commence in 2025 and wrap up by 2030.

The 357-kilometer extension will connect Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai, introducing five additional stations and a logistics hub designed to facilitate the transfer of freight between Thailand’s railway system and the China-Laos Railway. The hub in Nong Khai will function as a vital cargo transfer point, optimizing trade among the three nations.

With the cabinet's approval in hand, the project will proceed in alignment with legal and regulatory frameworks. This advancement represents a significant milestone in Thailand’s initiative to improve regional connectivity and bolster economic relations with China and Laos.
