A full-scale emergency drill for aviation disasters and passenger rescue will take place at Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport on February 27. The exercise aims to test emergency response procedures, including accident reporting, victim transfers, and inter-agency coordination.

According to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), the drill will simulate a plane crash, assessing response efficiency and communication between the airport’s emergency teams and national disaster management agencies. This marks the first such drill since the airport’s opening in 2023.

Airport director Bun Ratha stated that the exercise follows international aviation safety protocols, requiring drills every two years. The Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, a $900 million facility, is designed to accommodate up to seven million passengers annually.
