Thai, Cambodian Police Free 215 Foreigners in Scam Center Raid

Authorities Crack Down on Regional Cyber Fraud Operations
Thai and Cambodian police have rescued 215 foreigners from a cyber scam center in Poipet, Cambodia, in a joint effort to combat illegal online fraud. The victims included 109 Thais, 50 Pakistanis, and 48 Indians, according to Thai officials.

The raid is part of an intensified crackdown on scam centers that have trafficked hundreds of thousands across Southeast Asia. The operation follows increased scrutiny after the abduction of Chinese actor Wang Xing, who was lured into a scam center in Myanmar.

With growing regional cooperation, authorities have stepped up efforts, including cutting power to scam hubs along the Thai-Myanmar border. China has also repatriated 621 of its citizens rescued from such operations in recent days.
