The Office of Basic Education Commission (Obec) in Thailand has teamed up with Chinese partners to introduce a 'digital smart classroom' pilot aimed at enhancing learning flexibility.

The initiative, which involves Guangxi University and Baijiayun Information Technology Ltd., is designed to promote anytime, anywhere education through digital innovations.

Two prototype classrooms have been set up at Benjamarachalai School in Bangkok.

The system, which will be ready for use by May 2024, supports live teaching and collaborative online learning.

Teachers have already received training from engineers at Guangxi University, who are also overseeing the installation.

The collaboration between Obec and Guangxi University was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed last year, which focuses on developing smart classroom solutions.

Thailand's Ministry of Education supports the use of digital technology to improve education quality, reduce inequality, and provide free access to learning resources.

In line with these goals, Obec plans to introduce a national learning platform and distribute laptops and tablets to more than 600,000 students.

The move aims to enhance digital learning, improve teaching efficiency, and align with Thailand's long-term educational vision.
