Battambang, a serene provincial capital in north-west Cambodia, has earned itself a prestigious title – it has been named a city of gastronomy by Unesco. This recognition places Battambang among 55 destinations added to the Creative Cities Network, celebrated for their rich culinary heritage.

Although Battambang may lack Michelin-starred restaurants or celebrity chefs, its culinary scene is a vibrant tapestry of tradition and flavor. From artisanal rice noodles to mouthwatering street snacks like turmeric-tinted minced-pork stuffed pancakes, the city's food culture is deeply rooted in its local customs and traditions.

Local tour guide Sokin Nou echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of preserving Battambang's unique food traditions. "Our food is inspired by our heritage and reflects our cultural identity," she explains. "It's a source of pride for all Battambangers."
