Hun Sen Urges Public to Be Wary of Fake News

Senate President Warns Against Social Media Scams
Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has called on citizens to exercise caution and critical thinking to combat the spread of false information, referred to as social pollution. This warning follows the discovery of fraudulent activities using his image to create fake social media accounts.

Hun Sen highlighted a recent scam where deceptive social media posts claimed that individuals could receive a 500 dollar bonus by following a link. He emphasized that this is a typical example of fake news, which can lead to identity theft and other serious security issues.

He advised the public to critically evaluate the credibility of information before believing or acting upon it. “Before you decide to register for a quick 500 dollars, think carefully about whether it sounds believable,” Hun Sen said. He stressed the pervasive nature of malicious activities, saying, "Today, malevolent forces are polluting our society with fake news almost everywhere."
