The Council for the Development of Cambodia approved 24 new investment projects and one expansion in May 2024, injecting more than 246 million United States Dollars into the economy and potentially creating approximately 15,000 jobs, according to a press release on June 10.

Among these projects, 17 are located outside special economic zones, while eight are within these zones.

**Key Investments Outside SEZs:**

- A 65 million United States Dollar initiative to establish a 60-megawatt solar power plant in Kampong Chhnang province, expected to generate 35 jobs.
- A metal processing factory in Prey Nup district, Sihanoukville province, with an investment exceeding 26 million United States Dollars, potentially creating 317 jobs.
- A steel pipe manufacturing facility in Preah Sihanouk province, involving more than 16 million United States Dollars and expected to offer 229 jobs.

**Key Investments Within SEZs:**

- An aluminum processing plant in the Jiangsu Special Economic Zone with a 25 million United States Dollar investment, expected to create 684 jobs.

Chinese investment led the inflows in May, accounting for nearly half of the total, while domestic investment represented almost 31 percent of the month's total capital.
