The third batch of China’s Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) team arrived in Phnom Penh early Tuesday morning to begin a one-year overseas medical mission. This mission continues China's ongoing support to Cambodia, which began in 2022 with the dispatch of the first TCM anti-epidemic medical team.

The team consists of members from Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine. This deployment follows a joint communiqué issued by the governments of China and Cambodia in Beijing on September 16, 2023, where it was stated that China would continue to send TCM teams to Cambodia on a long-term basis. Sichuan Province has been tasked with organizing the first locally dispatched TCM team for overseas assistance.

During their mission, the third batch will provide routine outpatient TCM services at the China-Cambodia Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh. They will also work on advancing the construction of the China-Cambodia Traditional Chinese Medicine Center, training local medical staff, promoting TCM culture, and organizing various forms of free clinics and mobile medical services.

The second batch of TCM experts, consisting of eight frontline clinical experts from Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, will conclude their term on Wednesday. They arrived in Phnom Penh on July 4, 2023, and have been providing essential medical services and support over the past year.
