Hello, wonderful readers! Let's talk about spreading joy and making travel easier during the Khmer New Year celebrations in Phnom Penh. This year, more than 80,000 workers and residents had smiles on their faces as they hopped on free buses provided by the Phnom Penh Capital Administration.

Mr. Met Meas Pheakdey, spokesperson for the administration, shared that the free transportation services witnessed a whopping 35% increase in usage compared to last year, with over 20,000 more passengers making the most of this generous gesture. Siem Reap and Battambang provinces stole the show with the highest number of travelers, where approximately 25,000 and 10,000 residents, respectively, benefited from the complimentary transit.

"The transportation operations during the New Year were smooth and safe, without any significant issues," Mr. Met Meas Pheakdey assured. He emphasized the community's heartfelt gratitude towards Prime Minister Hun Manet and the Phnom Penh Capital Administration for their continued tradition of offering free transportation, which makes it easier for many to reunite with their families during this festive season.

To ease the financial burden of holiday travel, a total of 455 buses were deployed by the Phnom Penh Capital Administration. Among these, 60 buses were dedicated to routes within Phnom Penh, while the remaining 395 facilitated travel between the city and various provinces, ensuring a seamless journey for residents returning to Phnom Penh post-celebration.
